The company
Jim Crockett Sr. founded the company in Charlotte in 1931, and under Jim Crockett Jr. it became the Mid-Atlantic powerhouse of the NWA. It launched Starrcade in 1983, the Great American Bash and the Four Horsemen, and briefly went national to compete with the WWF before financial trouble forced a sale to Ted Turner in November 1988.
