Fritz Von Erich’s Dallas promotion became a national TV hit in the early 1980s, with the Von Erich brothers against the Fabulous Freebirds and record crowds at Texas Stadium. A run of tragedies in the Von Erich family and the WWF’s expansion brought its decline, and it closed in 1990.
