The company
History
WWE grew out of Vincent J. McMahon’s Capitol Wrestling in the Northeast. His son Vince McMahon took it national in the 1980s as the WWF, won the Monday Night War against WCW, bought WCW and ECW, and renamed the company WWE in 2002. In 2023 it merged with UFC under TKO Group Holdings, and Vince McMahon left the company in 2024. Its modern era runs from the Ruthless Aggression years through John Cena’s decade at the top, the women’s revolution and Roman Reigns’ Bloodline run to Cody Rhodes finishing the story.
